Trip Advisor Reviews

We stayed here recently as a stopover before getting the ferry to Stornoway. Easy to find and located in a lovely setting. Basic but everything you need. There are two rooms with four bunks in each and a shared kitchen/diner in-between. Each room has its own bathroom. Very pleasant gardens, although the midges prevented us sitting outside. Short drive to Ullapool in the morning to get the ferry.

We stayed in the B&B part of the house with a separate entrance. Breakfast you take at the owners dinnertable, wich is sympa. The place is nice, family friendly, has a garden and compared to other B&B a bargain.

Drove past Forest Way after coming down from a three day wild camp. Had a room to ourselves. Each room has 4 beds & its own shower room. Warm, comfortable & has a great drying room. Found Iain a social host without being overbearing. Thanks...More

The bunkhouse facilities are as described. However, the point is there is no internet available and we are not allowed to use the lounge either. If you are lucky, you can sit out on a sunny day. But since 6 out of 7 days it rains, there is nothing you can do. There is no mobile signal in the bunkhouse either because it is made of foil insulation. Meaning if you need help, you need to come out of your bed, out of bunkhouse. Scream and find a signal on your mobile.

Iain is very friendly and uncomplicated and we had a nice chat over breakfast (which was delicious). We enjoyed the night in the Forest Way B&B, as it was very quiet, the beds were comfortable and the wi-fi was also good! We just stayed for one night as we were travelling around, but this is a place where you could easily stay longer!

    Thank you very much Iain!

review rating 5  Great little bunkhouse in a very convenient location for bagging loads of Munros and Corbetts :). Comfortable beds, a decent kitchen and an effective drying room. I've stayed a couple of times and will certainly return. Iain (the owner) is also an invaluable source of advice on hill routes.

review rating 5  I've stayed here twice now. It's a fine wee bunkhouse, comfortable beds, good showers and ideally located for plenty of local hills, with the Fannichs, Deargs and An Teallach in easy reach, and not too long a drive to get into those lovely Assynt hills. The owner is a keen walker and has a lot of excellent local knowledge. You also get a free beer. Highly recommended 🙂

review rating 5  Me and 2 friends bunked here for 1 night. Lovely little place surrounded by forests, very peaceful. You can hear the water flowing nearby which creates a tranquil environment. The owner, Ian is a lovely man. His family is also on the site who are also lovely people. The communal area in the bunkhouse was spacious and offered everything you need. Each guest room has an en suite with 4 bunks in each room. You can also rent these rooms so if you're with a small group you can create a private area. If I ever do the nc500 again I will stay here!

review rating 5  Iain and his dad were some of the nicest people we met on our trip through and round Scotland we couldn't have asked for more! The room we stayed in we paid a little extra for to book it out, it was very clean and tidy with a lovely drive area to sit outside. The area around this site should be considered an area of outstanding natural beauty. I would highly recommend staying here if you are in the area!
